IRS Approved Payment Plans or Installment Agreements

McCormick Tax Group’s tax consultants assist individuals and businesses with IRS tax resolution.  If you are unable to pay your tax liability due in full, do not avoid filing your tax return(s) timely, or you may face penalties for failing to file the tax return on time if you did not file an extension.  If you are unable to pay your tax liability due, the IRS has payment plan options.  There are short-term payment plans for 180 days or less and long-term plans, or installment agreements, for up to 72 months.  Penalties and interest accrue on the liability due until the balance is paid in full.  You may pay off the installment agreement sooner if able, which would save on penalties and interest.  There are other criteria to consider while in the installment agreement, such as filing all tax returns on time and paying any federal taxes owed by the April deadline to prevent default on the agreement.  Our specialized tax consultants may help guide you through the process of a payment plan or an installment agreement.

Offers in Compromise

McCormick Tax Group’s tax consultants assist individuals and businesses with IRS tax resolution.  An Offer in Compromise, or OIC, allows eligible taxpayers to settle the tax debt for less than the amount owed.  The IRS considers the taxpayer’s unique situation, including such things as ability to pay, income, expenses, and asset equity. The IRS also has an OIC pre-qualifier tool on the IRS website to determine whether you may qualify.  An OIC is not a one size fits all solution.  The IRS conducts a detailed review of a taxpayer’s complete financial situation during the OIC application process.  Our specialized tax consultants may help guide you through the process to determine if you may be eligible for an OIC or other collection alternative, such as an installment agreement.
