Getting Your Tax Refund
Most taxpayers this year have faced longer wait times for refunds than in previous years. This could be due to many reasons such as the PATH ACT as well as other tax legislations that have made the IRS slower than usual in returning refunds to taxpayers. The IRS is also combating the issue of identity theft, hoping that the slower turnaround time will combat this issue.
To check the status of your refund, you can visit: https://www.irs.gov/refunds. If you have paper filed your return, you can use the “Where Is My Refund?” tool on the IRS Website after 4 weeks of mailing the return to the IRS. The IRS recommends that you call the IRS directly if it’s been more than six weeks since filing the return.
